(Note: German Dörrfleisch is not quite the same as jerky. The German version is usually made of smoked pork belly, while jerky is usually beef and spiced differently. Landjäger is a traditional dried spiced sausage (pressed into a square shape) from southern Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.)
