Das schönste deutsche Wort

Sunday June 10, 2007
What's the most beautiful word in the German language? In 2004 a jury in Germany announced the winners of a contest to determine the most beautiful German word. People from all over the globe picked their favorite German words. After going through more than 22,000 entries from 111 countries (the U.S contributed more words than any other country outside of Germany!) the panel chose the top five words. Which five German words do you think they picked? Which German word would YOU pick for number one? You can count down from the fifth place word to das schönste deutsche Wort.

I would like to see the gender come with the word of the day. The word is almost useless without it!
