What happened to Hyde Flippo?
Hi webmaster!
Hyde got pissed with the way About.com changed. With the new site look ect. But mainly he wanted to do his own thing. After Hyde left their was no person who had ain priveleges on the forums, so the forums collapsed.
I miss Hyde! He explained everything so well!
Hope a new guy will come soon.
I’m a member of Wright State University’s German club. I’ll pass along the opening to the club, and maybe one of the instructors will decide she can take over.
They’re all wonderful women. (At least, I’m not aware of any men that teach German at WSU…)
Hyde can be found here:

Interesting facts.I have bookmarked this site. stephanazs
Hyde was good. Thanks for the link to his new site. I’m surprised no one has yet taken over the site – seems like it would be a great opportunity for a German speaker, ’specially since it’s a paying position. I mentioned it to someone I know who is eminently qualified (native German, teacher to boot) and she treated it like “Oh, yeah, RIGHT.”
I hope they find someone soon! There’s some great content on this site but I only just discovered it.
Hyde Flippo looked like he was a pretty clever guy, written a few books etc: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/ref=ntt_athr_dp_sr_1?_encoding=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=Hyde%20Flippo
Let’s hope they manage to get someone pretty good…
The good content someone mentioned is now being used by people who didn’t put it there. (Sich mit fremden Federn schmuecken!) The good old forum is still alive – and well, as I found out, with Hyde, Ethel, Gitte, Robin and some other VERY knowledgeable people. I have no idea what the reason was/is for all this moving/changing etc. and I don’t care, as long as I can get to the old crew.

o.k. I will find out on your application site and give a feedback.
Check out this site:
deutschlern.net
It’s got sweet exercises separated by levels of comprehension and it’s updated frequently. You need a minimal amount of proficiency in order to navigate the site, however, as it is entirely in German.
Hello, did you find someone for the German part?
maybe i can help you?
I would most strongly recommend everyone switch to learning Spanish. It is the 3rd most spoken native language in the world!!

I found one website where you can learn german daily uses word go for this
germanjockey.com
I would like to take issue with Phillip’s comment. Although you are correct about Spanish being a common language, it was an inappropriate comment for this forum. For those of us who speak and teach German, your comment was unwelcomed. German is a vibrant language that is the most closely related of the major world languages taught in most high schools in the US. Don’t worry, you’ll always have students, so go visit spanish.about.com
I can teach German. Also my husband is German. I can see if he would be willing to teach on the site.
