Regenwetter — rainy weather.
Was ist das für ein Wetter heut! / Es regnet ja wie toll! — What a weather it is today! / it’s raining so madly!
Die Straße ist ein großer See, / die Gosse übervoll. — The street is a large lake / the gutter overflowing.
Der Sperling duckt sich unters Dach, / so gut er eben kann, — The sparrow ducking under the roof, / as well as he can do,
und Nero liegt im Hundehaus / und knurrt das Wetter an. — and Nero is in the dog house / and growling at the weather.
Wir aber haben frohen Mut / und sehn dem Regen zu, — But we have joyful courage / and looking at the rain,
erzählen uns gar mancherlei / daheim in guter Ruh. — and telling us so many things / at home in full tranquility.
Lass regnen, was es regnen will! / Lass allem seinen Lauf! — Let it raining, what it wants to rain / let it all be its course!
Und wenn’s genug geregnet hat, so hört’s auch wieder auf. — And if it has then rained enough, it will in good time cease.
