Experience

Hyde Flippo is a former writer for ThoughtCo where he wrote about German culture and language for 10 years. Hyde taught high school and college level German language for 28 years. He retired from teaching but continued to write about Germany.

Hyde published several books on the German language and culture. During his time with ThoughtCo, he wrote more than 200 articles on everything from how to recognize the subjective tense to the most common names given to pets in Germany. Hyde published several books which include The German Way When in Germany, Do as the Germans Do (McGraw-Hill Education, 2nd edition, 2018) and  Perfect Phrases in German for Confident Travel (McGraw-Hill Education, 1st edition, 2009). He also writes for and manages websites, including The German Way & More.

Education

Hyde Flippo has bachelor's degree in German and history from Tulane University in New Orleans and the University of Nevada–Reno. He also has a master's degree in education.
