4 Erstes Gespräch mit dem Portier - Talking to the Porter 1 (DVD: 6)

Holly and Kurtz walk over to the site of Harry's accident. After talking with Kurtz about the accident, Holly approaches the porter, who was sweeping the sidewalk...

Holly: Who used to visit Mr. Lime?

Portier: Visit...? (to Kurtz) Was will er wissen?

Kurtz: Er will wissen, wer hier verkehrt hat.

Portier: Ah so.

Holly: What'd he say?

Kurtz: He says he doesn't know everybody.

Frau des Portiers: Karl! Kannst du einen Moment hereinkommen?

Portier: Moment... Ja, also ich bin...

Frau des Portiers: Du musst ans Telefon.

Portier: Excuse me. (goes into the apartment house)

5 Im Josefstadt-Theater - At the Theater (DVD: 7)

Auf der Bühne - On stage...

Damen: Ich bitte dich!

Holly goes to Anna's dressing room.

Holly: I was a friend of Harry Lime's.

Anna: Afterwards.

Later, Holly comes into the dressing room. An actress is leaving...

Dame: Danke. Gute Nacht, Anna!

Anna: Gute Nacht!

As Holly is talking with Anna about Harry's "accident"...

Frauenstimme: Frau Schmidt?

Anna: Ja, Frau Hubel.

Frau Hubel: Es ist... [unintelligible]

Anna: Ja, ich geh' schon. - I must hurry. They don't like us to use the lights...
