Note: 4 Erstes Gespräch mit dem Portier - Talking to the Porter 1 (DVD: 6) Holly and Kurtz walk over to the site of Harry's accident. After talking with Kurtz about the accident, Holly approaches the porter, who was sweeping the sidewalk... Holly: Who used to visit Mr. Lime? Portier: Visit...? (to Kurtz) Was will er wissen? Kurtz: Er will wissen, wer hier verkehrt hat. Portier: Ah so. Na, es kommen so viele Leute hier. Sie (to Kurtz) waren da, der Popescu... ich kann net (nicht) alle kennen. Holly: What'd he say? Kurtz: He says he doesn't know everybody. Frau des Portiers: Karl! Kannst du einen Moment hereinkommen? Portier: Moment... Ja, also ich bin... Frau des Portiers: Du musst ans Telefon. Portier: Excuse me. (goes into the apartment house)
5 Im Josefstadt-Theater - At the Theater (DVD: 7) Auf der Bühne - On stage... Damen: Ich bitte dich! - Ich bitt' dich! Ich bitt' dich! Und du musst jetzt nur nicht streng zu kommen. Tochter: Sonst sagen wir alles der Frau Mama. Vater: Na, na, um Gottes Willen! Nur das nicht, meine herzensguten Kinder. Tochter: Wenn ich der Mama nicht sag, dass du das Stubenmädel immer in die Wange zwickst, lasst du mich den Wolfgang heiraten? Vater: Das ist ja glatte Erpressung. (laughter) Na, wenn i (ich) die drei Madel net hätt', dann könnt i mir drei Kreuzottern kaufen - giftiger können die auch nicht stechen. Holly goes to Anna's dressing room. Holly: I was a friend of Harry Lime's. Anna: Afterwards. Vater: ...sind gleich vier und geniesst das Eheleben in viefacher Auflag. - Mein Kind, ein neues Chiffonkleid für dich. Later, Holly comes into the dressing room. An actress is leaving...
Dame: Danke. Gute Nacht, Anna! Anna: Gute Nacht! As Holly is talking with Anna about Harry's "accident"... Frauenstimme: Frau Schmidt? Anna: Ja, Frau Hubel. Frau Hubel: Es ist...
