DVD CHAPTER 10 (Bourne's in Berlin!)

Segment 1 - AVUS - A115
Bourne is seen driving his stolen BMW along the 115 autobahn in Berlin-Charlottenburg (photo above), within sight of the historic Funkturm (radio tower, completed 1926) and Berlin's Battlestar Galactica-like ICC convention center. Since Bourne's headed for the Ostbahnhof (East Railway Station), this would be the long way to go, but no matter. We're finally in Berlin!

Segment 2 - Ostbahnhof
Just before Bourne drives up to Berlin's Ostbahnhof (photo below) we see an aerial shot of the station from the air. (Note: The section of the Berlin Wall known as the East Side Gallery is just across the street from the Ostbahnhof.) In the distance we see the Fernsehturm (TV tower) that stands at Alexanderplatz in what used to be downtown East Berlin.

Segment 2 - Ostbahnhof Interior
Bourne walks through the Ostbahnhof main hall to use the lockers and to make some phone calls in an effort to discover the hotel in which Landy and the other CIA people are staying. We hear him speaking German: "Kann ich bitte mit dem Gast Pamela Landy sprechen."

Segment 3 - Ostbahnhof
He learns that Landy is staying at the Westin Grand (a real Berlin hotel) and walks out of the station to go to her hotel. We see an aerial view of the Oberbaum bridge...

Segment 4 - Oberbaum Bridge
In what may have been intended as something of an homage to Run Lola Run, we see the same bridge featured in that German film (starring Franka Potente). Bourne's taxi crosses the Oberbaumbrücke (see photo) on its way to the Westin Grand Hotel in Berlin-Mitte.

Segment 5 - Westin Grand
Bourne enters the hotel lobby and uses a ruse with his cell phone and the hotel reception desk to find out Landy's room number. He observes her leaving her room and follows her black CIA van in a taxi.

Segment 6 - Alexanderplatz
An aerial view features the TV tower and Berlin's Museum Island. We see Bourne's non-smoking (!) cab pull up in front of the CIA monitoring post.

DVD CHAPTER 11

Segment 1 - Bourne on the Roof
Landy exits the van and enters the CIA monitoring post. We see scenes with Landy and the CIA people trying to trace Bourne while unbeknownst to them Bourne gets in position on the roof of an adjacent building with a big red "Bosch" sign. (See the Bosch.de Web site.) With Landy in his rifle scope, Bourne calls her on his cell phone. "What do you want with me?" - "Berlin. Have you forgotten what happened in Berlin?," replies Landy. "You killed two people, Bourne." Flashback. Glimpses of the past.

Segment 2 - Bourne Sees Nicky
Suddenly Bourne catches a glimpse of Nicky (Julia Stiles) behind the window. He remembers her from Paris. He wants her to be his contact for a meeting at Alexanderplatz. "I need someone I know to bring me in." - Who?" - "There was a girl in Paris, part of the program." She's to meet him at Alexanderstraße in 30 minutes, under the world clock (die Weltzeituhr).

DVD CHAPTER 12

Segment 1 - Alexanderplatz and the World Clock
A tram enters the scene from the left. The camera pans across the square and we see the world clock and German green-and-white Polizei vans there for the demonstration. Nicky is waiting by the world clock as instructed. Snipers and observers are all around, on the ground and on nearby buildings. The German demonstrators begin to swirl around her on the square. Landy and her crew monitor Nicky via video cameras.

Segment 2 - Nicky Gets a Call
Nicky has Landy's cell phone as she waits for Bourne. The phone rings: "There's a tram coming towards you. Get on it."

Segment 3 - Nicky Gets on the Tram
With demonstrators all around her, Nicky gets on the tram. No sign of Bourne yet. He's taking advantage of the "Demo" confusion.
