    3. AUF DER AUTOBAHN

All motorists in Austria must buy and affix this sticker to their windshield before driving on the Autobahn. Residents usually purchase a one-year sticker. Tourists can buy a short-term sticker valid for a week or a month, etc. The numbers around the edge represent days (Tage) or months (Monate). The Vignette in the photo is marked "W" for "Woche" (week). The punched numbers indicate this sticker is valid for one week starting on the 12th day of the 7th month (July).

It is also a legal warning that auto drivers must slow or stop for boarding or deboarding passengers.
