About this Photo: This historic key landmark of the German capital was designed by C.G. Langhans and built from 1788 to 1791. The statue on top with four steeds pulling a chariot bearing the goddess Victoria is known as the Quadriga. The Brandenburg Gate was closed off by the Berlin Wall in 1961 until it reopened in 1989 with German reunification.
