Select the one German verb that conveys the correct meaning of "know" in each item:

1. Ich kenne ihn nicht.
   I don't know him.
- kennen = to know (a person), be familiar with something
- Choices: weiß | kenne | kann

2. Karl weiß nichts davon.
   Karl knows nothing about it.
- wissen = to know something/a fact
- Choices: weiß | kann | kennt

3. Ich habe Dieter nicht gekannt.
   I didn't know Dieter.
- gekannt = past participle of "kennen"
- Choices: gekannt | gekonnt | gewusst

4. Können Frau Herr und Frau Schmidt Deutsch?
   Do Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt know German?
- können = to know how to do something (be able to, can)
- Choices: Kennen | Können | Wissen

5. Weißt du, wann Karl und Julia kommen?
   Do you know when Karl and Julia are coming?
- wissen = to know (information)
- Choices: Weißt | Kennst | Kannst

6. Kennst du dieses neue Buch von Grisham? Es ist wirklich spannend!
   Do you know (are you familiar with) this new Grisham book? It's really suspenseful!
Choices: Weißt | Kennst | Kannst

7. Ich will aber nichts von ihm wissen.
   I don't want to know anything about him (don't want to have anything to do with him).

8. Mein Name ist Hase, ich weiß von nichts.
   I know nothing about it. (idiom) / I don't know nuttin. (slang)

9. Sie kennt mich nur dem Namen nach.
   She knows me by name only.

10. Sie wissen nur, dass wir am Dienstag kommen.
   They only know that we're coming on Tuesday.
