First of all, the Peter Cornelius we're talking about here is not the German classical composer of the same name who died at age 50 in 1874. The Austrian pop-star Peter Cornelius was born on 29 January 1951 in Vienna (Wien). Like many Austrian performers, Cornelius spent much of his career working in neighboring Germany. In recent years, however, he has spent more time in his homeland, particularly in the province of Niederösterreich (Lower Austria) near Vienna. The singer, guitarist, and composer is still active on the concert circuit (Vienna, 2001 and 2002), but his heyday was in the seventies and eighties. Here are some of his “greatest hits”:
