Song Lyrics in German and English
Die Prinzen - ALLES NUR GEKLAUT (English)

SONG BACKGROUND

One of PRINZEN's earlier hit songs, "Alles nur geklaut" is a humorous reflection on how an artist's work may not always be original, and how that can affect a relationship. The German verb "klauen" is slang for "steal" or "lift."

Album: Alles nur geklaut/Ganz oben - Hits MCMXCI... (available from the Apple iTunes Music Store)

ALLES NUR GEKLAUT
All Just Stolen

Also see the original German lyrics.

I write a hit song,
the whole nation already knows it,
everyone is singing along,
real loud in the chorus; that sounds good.
No one can get enough of it,
everyone thinks I'm clever,
I hope no one notices the fraud.

Because it's all just stolen,
none of it's mine,
it's all just stolen,
but I'm the only one who knows,
it's all just stolen
and lifted,
just copied
and robbed.
Sorry, I took the liberty.

I'm filthy rich,
I drive a Benz that sparkles in the sun.
I have a large pond,
and in front of it a palace and a white steed;
I'm a big hero,
and I travel around the world,
I'm getting better looking through my money.

And it's all just stolen...

I want very much to seduce you,
but then I notice:
that won't be easy for me.
I go walking with you
and recite a poem to your face.
I say, I wrote it just for you,
and then you kiss me;
I'm lucky that you don't know:

It's all just stolen...

On your halo
I don't even shine any more,
because you still have, thank God,
something upstairs for sure.

And it's all just stolen,
none of it's yours,
it's all just stolen,
but you're the only one who knows,
it's all just stolen
and lifted,
just copied
and robbed.
Who allowed you the liberty?
Who allowed you the liberty?
