Was ist Ihre Meinung dazu? - What's your opinion on the subject of German spelling reform?

This poll is closed now. It was our very first poll for German. It first opened in August 1999. Here are the results of that Umfrage:

F R A G E: Are you in favor of Rechtschreibreform?

• Yes. It's a needed change and a step in the
   right direction. (47) 13%

• Yes, but... it doesn't go far enough. (64) 18%

• No. The traditional spelling is just fine. (248) 69%
Total Votes: 359

As you can see, most of the respondents (69%) were against the spelling reforms that are now in effect. Only 31% were in favor, including those who did not think the reforms went far enough (18%). - For more about spelling reform, see our Spelling Reform Timeline page and the links below.
