| SHOPPING PHRASEBOOK Hello! Guten Tag! - Grüß Gott! (Austria/Bavaria) NOTE: When entering a smaller German shop, it is customary to exchange hello's with the shopkeeper or sales clerk. See the procedure for leaving below. May I help you? (salesperson) Was darf es sein? (Verkäufer/in) May I help you? (salesperson) Darf ich Ihnen helfen? (Verkäufer/in) customer der Kunde m., die Kundin f. I'm looking for... Ich suche... a dress - ein Kleid (eye-n KLITE) a shirt - ein Hemd (eye-n HEMT) athletic shoes - Sportschuhe (SHPORT SHOO-a) a postcard - eine Postkarte (eye-na POST-KAR-ta) I'm just looking. Ich sehe mich nur ein wenig um. I'm just looking. Ich schau nur ein bisschen herum. SALE! - SPECIAL OFFER! - REDUCED! Ausverkauf! - Sonderangebot! - Reduziert! NOTE: German stores usually offer two big sales each year: the Sommerschlussverkauf in late summer and the Winterschlussverkauf towards the end of winter. I'd like... Ich möchte... (eech MURG-ta) Can you fix/repair this? Können Sie das reparieren? (KURN-en zee das REP-ah-rear-en) What size are you? (salesperson) Welche Größe haben Sie?
