German Airports - Air Travel

A. On the opening Berliner Flughäfen page, observe and/or click on any items required to answer the following questions:

  1. Is this site in German only? If not, which languages are available?
  2. How many airports does Berlin have? What are their names and three-letter abbreviations?
  3. What is each airport's "nickname" or slogan?

B. Using the Berliner Flughäfen site, provide this information for each Berlin airport:

  1. Location, distance from Berlin's city center.
  2. Passengers per year.
  3. A brief history.
  4. Which of the airports is currently Berlin's largest?
  5. Name at least five airlines serving each of these airports. What are the two-letter abbreviations for each airline?
  6. What is the German name for the link to find out how to reach the airports? Name the categories under that category.

C. Go to "Hauptstadt-Airport BBI" (Berlin Brandenburg International)

  1. Describe what you see on the BBI main page.
  2. Name five facts you learned about BBI.

D. Click on "Projekt" in the top menu to answer the next questions.

  1. What are the plans for the BBI airport?
  2. How will this affect the other Berlin airports?
  3. What are some key dates in the BBI project timeline?

  2. Is this site in German only? If not, which languages are available?
  3. On the German main page - which categories are named in English?
F. Click on "Flugauskunft" and answer the following question:
  1. Which German menu selection is for current departures? Current arrivals?

G. Click on the link for "departures" to answer the following questions:

  1. What time is it in Frankfurt right now? And in your time zone?
  2. For the first three (3) flights listed, name: (a) destination, (b) airline, (c) type of aircraft (Boeing 747, Airbus, etc.), (d) departure and arrival times (in 24-hour and am/pm format), (e) on-time?, (f) terminal, (g) weather at destination city. (Note: This information may update every few minutes! Click on a flight number for more details.)
  3. Out of the first ten flights listed, which one would you take if you had the time and money? Why?
