6 Antwort - Wer bin ich?
Persönlichkeit 6 - Wer bin ich?
Ich wurde am 6. Juni 1436 in Königsberg in Bayern geboren.

Many of Regiomontanus' works were published after his death in 1476. Regiomontanus' (Müller's) death is something of a mystery. Pope Sixtus IV summoned him to Rome in 1475 to help with the overdue reform of the Julian calendar and appointed him bishop of Regensburg. Regiomontanus died before he could take office, either from the plague or, as some have suggested, from poison at the hands of his enemies.
Both Regiomontanus and Purbach (Peuerbach), with whom he worked on the Theoricae plantetarum novae, have "matching" lunar craters named for them. (See the link below for a photo!)
Works/Werke:
- Theoricae plantetarum novae (with Georg von Peuerbach, 1472)
- Ephemerides, astronomical/navigational tables for 1474-1506 (1474) - Columbus took along a copy of the Ephemerides on his 1492 voyage to the Americas.
- Tabulae directionum (1475)
- Calendario (1476)
- De triangulis omnimodis libri quinque ("Five Books on Triangles of All Kinds" - pub. 1533, written 1464) - First modern treatment of plane and spherical trigonometry
- Scripta (1544)
English Version - Game 6
I was born on the 6th of June 1436 in Königsberg in Bavaria. Almost exactly 40 years later I was assassinated in Rome. Already as a child of eleven, I began my studies at the university in Leipzig. From 1450 to 1461 I studied in Vienna. Soon I was the most significant mathematician and astronomer of the 15th century. In 1461 I went to Italy, where I wrote my work on trigonometry. I also lived in Hungary and for many years in Nürnberg, where many of my works were printed with an entirely new invention. In Nürnberg I also continued my astronomical observations. After 1475 I helped the pope in Rome with his calendar reform. Unfortunately this work ended prematurely with my assassination. But my astronomical tables (Ephemerides) proved invaluable for the voyages of discovery. Although I had a German name, I was much better known by my Latin name. A crater on the moon bears my name. - Who am I?
