Der Spanier hat sich so sehr in Hamburg verliebt, dass er an der Elbe Immobilien kaufte mit dem Ziel, dort eine Dependance seiner Firma zu eröffnen.
The Spaniard fell so much in love with Hamburg that he bought real estate on the Elbe with the intention of opening a branch office of his firm there.
(The German word Dependance comes from French and Latin. It has a more formal tone or register than the other German words for "branch" below.)
