German Word of the Day

auf gut Glück  trusting to luck, at random, taking a chance, on the off-chance

Google.de: „auf gut Glück!“
Google.com: “I'm feeling lucky.” (one of the search choices)
Da wir nicht genau wissen, wann wir ankommen, wollten wir einfach auf gut Glück fahren.
Since we don't know exactly when we'll arrive, we wanted to just take our chances (on getting a hotel) and drive there.

Related: das Glück luck, (good) fortune, Glückauf! Good luck!  Glück gehabt! That was lucky!
