Grave of Franz Kafka - Sisters' Memorial
The names of Franz Kafka's three sisters are engraved on a stone plaque leaning against the Kafka family's gravestone. Gabriela (Ella), Valerie (Valli), and Otilie (Ottla) all died in concentration camps during the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia in World War II. The inscription is in Czech with the date of each sister's birth and their deaths during the period between 1942 and 1943. (In fact, one of his sisters may have perished in 1941.)
