German Cloze Exercise
Song: MENSCH - Quiz 1

A song lyrics vocabulary exercise

This fill-in-the-blanks (cloze) exercise is based on the Herbert Grönemeyer song “Mensch“ from our German song lyrics section (with English). This part covers the first three verses of the song. When you've finished filling in the blanks, click on the "Get score" button below to see how you did. There is also a print version of this cloze exercise for classroom use.

Please don't attempt the following exercise without first becoming familiar with the lyrics to “Mensch,“ preferably by listening to the recording on CD or on the Web.

INSTRUCTIONS: While listening to the song, complete items 1-10 below by typing in the ten missing words from the song lyrics. You may need to listen to the song several times, but that's okay. Spelling is important! Misspelled words (including capitalization) will be scored as incorrect.

NOTE: Please type any umlauts as "ae" (ä), "oe" (ö), or "ue" (ü). The "ß" character should be written as "ss."
