GESCHEHEN (to happen) - Indicative

GESCHEHEN (intransitive, impersonal verb):
  Indicative (Pres., Past, Future) > Subjunctive > Verb List

PRINCIPAL PARTS (helping verb sein):
  geschehen (geschieht) | geschah | ist geschehen

GESCHEHEN (to happen, occur)
Indicative Forms
Note: German has no present progressive tense. The German present es geschieht can mean either "it happens" or "it is happening" in English, depending on the context.
DEUTSCH ENGLISH
PRESENT
es geschieht it happens, is happening
sie geschehen they happen, are happening
Note: The "impersonal" verb geschehen is used only in the third person (singular or plural).
SIMPLE PAST (Imperfekt)
es geschah it happened
sie geschahen they happened
PRES. PERFECT (Perfekt)
es ist geschehen it happened, has happened
sie sind geschehen they happened, have happened
PAST PERFECT (Plusquamperfekt)
es war geschehen it had happened
sie waren geschehen they had happened
FUTURE
es wird geschehen it will happen
sie werden geschehen they will happen
FUTURE PERFECT
es wird geschehen sein it will have happened
sie werden geschehen sein they will have happened
Examples:
Was geschieht denn hier?
What's going on here?
Sein Unfall ist am 17. Juli geschehen.
His accident occured on the 17th of July.
Das geschieht ihr recht.
It serves her right.
