SUBJUNCTIVE I (Pres.)
es geschehe it is said to happen
sie geschehen they are said to happen
Note: The "impersonal" verb geschehen is used only in the third person (singular or plural) and has no imperative (command) forms.
SUBJUNCTIVE I (Past)
es sei geschehen it was said to happen
sie seien geschehen they were said to happen
SUBJUNCTIVE II (Pres.)
es geschähe it would happen
sie geschähen they would happen
SUBJUNCTIVE II (Past)
es wäre geschehen it would have happened
sie wären geschehen they would have happened
CONDITIONAL
es würde geschehen it would happen
sie würden geschehen they would happen
PAST CONDITIONAL
es würde geschehen sein it would have happened
sie würden geschehen sein they would have happened
Examples:
Geschehe, was wolle...
Come what may...
Uns würde nichts geschehen.
Nothing would happen to us. (We would not be harmed.)
Dein Wille geschehe
Thy will be done (Bible)
Sie tun so, als wäre nichts geschehen.
They act as if nothing had happened.
