gehören zu D belong to Er gehört zu dieser Gruppe.
He belongs to this group.
s. gewöhnen an A get used to Ich kann mich nicht an die Hitze gewöhnen.
I can't get used to the heat.
glauben an A believe in Glaubst du an ihn?
Do you believe in him?
Note: glauben without a preposition is a dative verb.
halten für A take for, consider as Ich halte sie für ein Genie.
I consider her a genius.
s. handeln um A be about, deal with Es handelt sich um ihr Leben.
It's about her life.
leiden an/unter D suffer from, be ill with Sein Sohn leidet an Asthma.
His son suffers from asthma.
sorgen für A take care of Er sorgt für seine Mutter.
He takes care of his mother.
s. sorgen um A worry about Sie sorgt sich um ihren Vater.
She worries about her father.
teilnehmen an D participate in Er nimmt an den Spielen nicht teil.
He's not participating in the games.
verzichten auf A do without Er kann nicht auf seine Zigaretten verzichten.
He can't do without his cigarettes.
warten auf A wait for Sie wartet auf den Bus.
She's waiting for the bus
zweifeln an D doubt, have doubts about Ich zweifle an seiner Theorie.
I doubt his theory.
