Deutsche Krimis und andere Bücher
Part 3: German Print-On-Demand Books

Anna
Anna, wo bist du? is only one of many German
print-on-demand titles from Random House.

Some good news for North American fans of Krimis and other German books came from Random House (owned by the German Bertelsmann AG) in 2001.

Random House now offers a wide selection of German books—including Krimis, other fiction and business titles—as print-on-demand books that can be purchased through any bookstore in the US and Canada. Since print-on-demand (POD) books don't have to be kept in inventory or on bookshelves, Random House can offer foreign language titles that might otherwise be difficult to carry through stores in North America. Once you locate a POD title you'd like, it can be ordered from a local bookseller or online. The Random House Web site (below) has a link to a store finder to help you find a bookstore near you or an online source. Most POD titles cost between $15 and $27, which is generally cheaper than ordering most German books online (with shipping and handling charges). All the POD books are full-size paperbacks (51/2 x 81/2 in.). Some German titles are also available for as little as $6.99 in eBook form.

The following list is just a sample of the 70 or so POD German titles available from Random House. These titles include Krimis (marked K), sci-fi, and other German literature. Most (but not all) are German translations of works by British, French and British writers. Click on any linked title to find out more about that POD book.
