Amerika Woche
A German-language weekly published in Chicago. Claims to be "die modernste deutschamerikanische Wochenzeitung."

Aufbau
This historic German-language Jewish newspaper, founded in 1934 and published in New York City, almost went bankrupt in March 2004. The publishing rights for the Aufbau have been bought by the Swiss publisher JM Jüdische Medien AG in order to merge it with the German Swiss Jewish weekly tachles, which like the Aufbau also began its life in Berlin. The new Aufbau is a monthly magazine and with editorial offices in Zurich, New York, Berlin, and Jerusalem. See the Web site for current info.

The Atlantic Times
This free "monthly newspaper from Germany" is published in English. The first edition appeared in October 2004 with the expressed purpose of narrowing "the dangerous rift that has lately opened up between America and Europe." Articles are devoted to German-American relations, business ties, cultural topics, and politics. Photos are in color. You can see a sample page and get a free subscription (US and Canada only) at their Web site.

Deutsche Rundschau
A monthly Canadian publication in German. Some articles are in English, but this is not really a newspaper for beginners. But unlike some, this paper has a good Web site!

European Weekly
"News for the European Community in the USA and Canada." The EW Web site is a bit confusing. The "European Weekly" is a free weekly email newsletter. The print subscription link is for the Seattle-based monthly Pazifische Rundschau. The site is in English and covers German and European topics.

Das Fenster
A German-American magazine published in Athens, Georgia. Site in English or German.

Florida Journal
A German-language magazine published in Miami. Mostly related to Florida real estate, there's also an English edition.

Freie Zeitung
A weekly published in Kenilsworth, NJ. Free introductory one-month subscription.

German TV in North America
Watch German TV in the US and Canada!

German Life
A mostly English bi-monthly magazine with a dual-language section. Lots of German-American, travel, historical and other cultural information. Also covers Austria and Switzerland.

German World
A colorful bilingual (German/English) monthly magazine on German-American topics. Some limited content online.

GLPnews.com
German Language Publications (GLP) is a US (and Canada) subscription service for German-language periodicals in print—from Austria, Germany and Switzerland. GLP is based in New Jersey; the Web site is in German or English.

Herald-Zeitung
The first German newspaper in Texas began life as the Neu-Braunsfelser Zeitung in 1852. It merged with the English-language Herald in 1957 and is now published only in English. But the H-Z has an interesting history and a section entitled "Stammtisch"!

Nebraska Staats-Zeitung
This brief history of Nebraska City's German newspaper offers some pictures, old ads, and other glimpses of this now defunct publication. From Nebraska City Magazine.

Neuschottländer Bote
A German-Canadian quarterly published in Nova Scotia. Site in German and English.

Neue Presse
Founded in 1986, the NP is one of the newest and best of the German Zeitungen in the US. This weekly newspaper is published in Palm Desert in southern California. Mailing address: 42-335 Washington St., Ste. F #385, Palm Desert, CA 92211 (NP's Web site has an outdated address!).

Neue Welt Online
Canada's largest bi-weekly newspaper serving the German-speaking community.

New Yorker Staats-Zeitung
One of the oldest continuously published German-American periodicals, the "Staats" will send you a free sample copy. You can read about the paper's long history, but this Web page offers only that and a contact form. Now published in Sarasota, Florida.

Nordamerikanische Wochen-Post
A German-American weekly published in Troy, Michigan. Site in German and English.

Pazifische Rundschau
This German-American periodical is published in Seattle, Washington. The PR subscription page is related to the European Weekly.

Washington Journal
Washington, DC's oldest (German) newspaper has changed hands and no longer has a Web site.
