A Useful Phrasebook
Unlike some phrasebooks, Langenscheidt's Jiffy features a 4000-word dictionary of everyday terms in a wide range of categories: Accommodations, Behavior, Currency, Eating and Drinking, Emergencies, Shopping, and so on. There's even a basic German grammar summary and good pronunciation help. Its one obvious weakness is a lack of some modern terms. It has too much about telegrams and nothing about computers, faxes, cell phones or email. But the Jiffy Phrasebook covers many other areas of everyday life very well.
