1919: Walter Gropius gründet das Bauhaus in Weimar. 1919: Walter Gropius founds the Bauhaus in Weimar.
1925: Aus politischen Gründen zieht das Bauhaus nach Dessau um. Im Juni erscheint die erste Serie der „Bauhausbücher“. Autoren: Gropius, Moholy-Nagy, Klee, Kandinsky und Mondrian. 1925: For political reasons the Bauhaus moves to Dessau. In June the first in a series of “Bauhaus books” is published. Authors: Gropius, Moholy-Nagy, Klee, Kandinsky und Mondrian.
1926: Das Bauhaus in Dessau trägt den neuen Namen „Hochschule für Bau und Gestaltung“. Am 4. Dezember Einweihung des neuen von Gropius entworfenen Bauhaus-Gebäudes. 1927: Im April Eröffnung einer Architekturabteilung, zu deren Leiter der Architekt Hannes Meyer ernannt wird. 1927: In April a Department of Architecture opens; the architect Hannes Meyer is named department chair.
1928: Walter Gropius tritt im April als Direktor zurück, um in Berlin als Architekt zu arbeiten. Auf Vorschlag von Gropius wird Hannes Meyer neuer Direktor. Das Bauhaus hat in diesem Jahr 166 Studierende. 1928: Walter Gropius steps down as director in April in order to work as an architect in Berlin. At his suggestion, Hannes Meyer becomes the new director. The Bauhaus has 166 students in this year.
